This is a photograph of the Thompson Family c. 1931, taken in Winnipeg, Manitoba, in which members of the Thompson family and the Meyerovitch family are featured. Two of my great-grandmothers, Chashka Thompson [15] (who was a Thompson before she married Meyer Thompson [d.1925], her first cousin) and her makhateneste, Henya Meyerovitch [17], sit in the front row. Chashka's eldest son, Phil Thompson [6] is married to Becky Meyerovitch Resnick Thompson [7], daughter of Henya. Becky had been married to a Mr. Resnick, and her son, Joe Resnick [2], is standing in the back row. The children of Phil and Becky are Percy [1], Lyle [14], Edith [8] and Pearl [3].
Chashka's son David Isaac [9] married another of Henya's daughters, Clara [10]. Their children are Pearl (with glasses)[4], Manuel [18] next to his grandmother) and Celia [16] (front row between her two grandmothers).
Henya's other daughter, Peshke [11], is shown with her husband Sholem Polinsky [19], and her daughters Pearl Grenadier [12](from her first marriage) and Molly Polinsky [5]. Henya also had two sons, Isaac, who "vanished" in Chicago sometime in the 1920s, and Hymie Myers (not pictured). (Incidentally, Hymie Myers married Rose Ashkenazie (Ash), whose brother, Louis, married Chashka’s niece, Betty Thompson. So Manuel’s cousins Mel and Gayle Myers – on his mother’s side, are also first cousins to Manuel’s second cousins on his father’s side.)
Also seen in the photograph is Chaskha's brother Wolfe [13].
